I really do not understand what happened to this Sakura. I moved to Glen Burnie in 2006 and in 2007 and 2008 I was known to come here 2-3 times A MONTH it was that good. Nowadays? Maybe once a year, if that. Previous reviews nailed it right on the head. Between 2006 and now I have seen a noticeable downhill slide in the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and I have not encountered a server that actually did a good job in several years. Forgetting simple things like water or to check on sodas is bad enough, but as a former server I *never* understand why the servers at Sakura never come back to ask if people want another cocktail- THAT IS YOUR BREAD AND BUTTER TOWARDS EASY TIPPING!!! *sigh* The shrimp as gone from tasting fresh to tasting frozen then thawed. The beef changed a few years ago and now tastes like something they picked up at Weis rather than from a proper butcher. The past two times I have been there the cooks looked overworked and exhausted. Like I said I used to go there a few times a month. Honestly I doubt I will return to Sakura in the future, which is sad considering I celebrated my birthdays in 2007 and 2008 there.

hhmmmm lets see where to start? Food- great.. I mean you cant really mess up chicken teryaki? right? Service - OK.. I mean not to happy to see you.. but not going to steer you away either. I ordered fried rice but when the chef prepared the fried rice I didnt get mine. So I said something and he said " maybe you ordered steamed rice" Hmmm?? I never order steamed rice. I know what I ordered. Then he pulled is waited aside pointed at me then turned his back to tell him about the rice mix up. Im sure there where a few choice words. At that point I didnt ever feel comfortable eating the rice. Chef tricks were exciting and entertaining. Also he did take my shellfish allergy seriously! Something could use a cleaning... either the carpet or mop. Bathrooms were super clean at a very busy time.

Nothing spectacular and take your money elsewhere! Food-as I said before nothing spectacular. The usual soup was fine, but the salad... The bowl was half filled with dressing once I picked out the lettuce. As for the main course, I had the Filet and Shrimp. The chef gave my medium filet to someone else at the table and gave me their well done filet. Of course they recooked the steaks, but they ask you what you ordered before they begin cooking! The sauces for the food are subpar. The so called yum yum sauce is filled with too many spices that don't blend well. The teriyaki sauce was a straight liquid. I could have drank it with a straw! All the other Japanese restaurants I have been to it was in a gel form. Service: Horrible. Had to ask numerous times for another server to get our server for a refill. Chefs: Great entertainment other than the fact the chef mixed a medium filet with a well done filet. Cost: Take your money elsewhere! There are better quality Japanese restaurants elsewhere for the same price and I will never return to Sakura again.

Sakura is one of those Japanese Steak House chains where they cook the food right in front of you. If you are in the mood for sushi/sashimi only - you can choose to sit at the sushi bar - or at some of the regular tables that lack the griddle cooking surface. We've been to this location twice. The first time, we waited for quite some time (about 30 minutes) for a chef to come out and cook for us. The second time was more like 10 minutes after placing our drink order. I've ordered from the sushi/sashimi menu both times, while my girlfriend opted for items off the grilled menu. Both times, the Miso soup has been good, but the Edamame is lacking. They haven't seemed to figure out how to get some salt into the pods (in comparison to Joss' in Annapolis who knows how to get this right). The result is the Edamame is missing that little bit of seasoning that it needs. On the fish front - I've had the raw scallops both times - very light, sweet, and delicately delicious! I've also had the nigiri tuna, salmon, and yellowtail - all fresh tasting and scrumptious! The nigiri smoked salmon is also wonderful - it has a rich, lightly smokey, buttery flavor. From the rolls perspective - I've tried the standard California rolls, tuna rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and the spider rolls. All were very good. The wasabi was as it should be - inducing a massive nasal headrush and overload of your senses! The pickled ginger is refreshing and I always end up eating it all even if I have already finished off the sashimi. I've gotten to sample some of the grilled fair as my girlfriend shovels some of her food onto my plate - the grilled filet, shrimp, chicken, all are done just right - and the grilled vegetables (mushrooms, zucchini, yellow squash, onions, and bean sprouts) are all well seasoned and crisp - not overcooked! I highly recommend this place - we will be back!

Been there twice. Once for hibachi and once for sushi. Never going back. Service was subpar, food bland and in the hibachi over cooked and the sushi rolls were over priced and falling apart. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Everything I had was very good.Especially the fillet mignon.I did have to ask our waiter to bring us sushi more than once.He acted like I was putting him out everytime I asked.Overall the food was good and I had a good time.

A nice Japanese hibachi place very similar to a lot of others I've been to but this one is quite pricey compared to others offering the same experience. Id recommend Kobe Steakhouse for the exact same experience at ten dollars less a person.

I've lived in Japan so I love Japanese food and culture. I'm in town so my family brings me here. It's very sweet of them. This is not Japanese cooking really. But it's fun and good if you're in need of protein. My nephew is totally fascinated and frightened by the antics of the tepanyaki chef. Good place to bring your kids. Especially if you want to mess with their minds. For about $32 bucks, you can stuff yourself on steak, scallops, and lobster. Not my normal price range, but what the hell. Sometimes you just gotta catch shrimp like a trained sea lion with your family and enjoy the experience. 4 stars for decent food and good memories.

Pretty good experience and about what you would expect for a Japanese steakhouse. I had the ribeye steak and the chef did a great job cooking it. The shrimp was just a a shade overcooked. You will get the standard hibachi show - onion volcano and train and juggling the utensils. All in all everything was good and the kids had a great time - will go back.

DELISH! Came here for a birthday party for my nephew and really enjoyed the restaurant. I have visited a Sakura once before and wasn't too impressed this time was very different. I ordered the steak and shrimp with mushroom side. The show was fabulous and the food scrumptious. The staff went out of there way to make everyone feel special. I was surprised how big the portions were and delighted to have lunch for the next day! I will totally suggest Sakura hen looking for a special fun meal!

I ate here last night. The food here is delicious. Really it is. The vegetables were not over cooked so they had a nice texture, definitely not mushy and they were fresh. I had Teriyaki Chicken with the shrimp sampler which was saucy and flavorful and fully cooked. The fried rice was also yummy. They use that sauce called yum-yum sauce, similar to a sweet funky ranch which is good. I also had a Dirty Shirley and a Perfect Peach. Beware though, their mixed drinks are potent and very alcohol flavored. So basically the food and drinks weren't bad but the three stars really comes from the actual hibachi show. I feel like when you go to these restaurants you pay to see the chef do tricks and show skills but I didn't really feel like the chef made a "show" I mean he basically made a big fire, missed catching an egg in his pocket, and then cooked our food. He was nice and the service was good. Our servers name was Joss and she was great. Very attentive. But in terms of a "show" I'd rather go to Kyotos in Severna Park where they really are skilled with throwing around utensils and are really funny as well and include you in the show with jokes and things. But with that being said I would still go back to Sakuras because the service and food is good. But it is not my favorite hibachi restaurant.

Ok after visiting a few other places similar to this place my recent return back I was far from impressed. Our chef was so DRY we actually had a child at our table and the "choo-choo trick" was probably the lamest one I've ever seen out of the many times I've seen it. I get you do the same show often but at least look like you enjoy it. Second thing I noticed, the veggies were not fresh. The broccoli was browning the zucchini was dried out the just looked like they should've been thrown away. The rice was good as usual, shrimp tasted like it was frozen and chicken breast the same. It was just ok. I won't bring a large party here based off my last visit.

It's been years since we dined at a Japanese steakhouse and Sakura didn't disappoint. The food was plentiful and delicious. The staff was very friendly. My 3 year old loved the show. Altogether, lots of fun. Our biggest complaint would be our actual server was inexperienced. She didn't know what an IPA was and was very slow getting drinks and our order. Otherwise, a great, fun night with the family.

Been to this location a couple of times before. We choose to eat here cause we didn't want to drive all the way to Annapolis for dinner and I figured my 7 year old would enjoy it. We all placed our order and enjoyed the cook and his crazy antics. The only negative feedback I have is I wish I could have all my food at the same time.

My husband and I eat here at least once a month! The food is awesome and we can't find another hibachi with their yum yum sauce! It's a little pricey and the servers could be a little nicer and that's why I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars.

The service was really good. Both the waiter and cook were smiling and friendly. The food was also delicious although the rice was a bit bland then other places I've been to. Also the soup was piping hot, so hot I burned my tongue. Maybe they should warn you prior lol.

Sakura will always have a special place in my heart, I know this place is a chain, but the experience keeps me coming back for more! This place is excellent for groups or couples, and if your a single diner there are separate tables and the sushi bar seating, too. There is an array of food options, most of the time I get the lobster and steak pairing. This meal comes with salad, soup and a appetizer. You may have your steak prepared preciously, and you'll likely be eating your food first as steak is normally prepared first. Full bar options, Sake and regular soda beverages are available. To start you will be brought to your table, hibachi grills and a light hearted chef will soon be preparing your meal and giving a performance while preparing your food. This interactive show is less than 10 minutes long and has some basic standards. First they will light a onion ring volcano, then spin a egg on his spatula (a japenese egg roll), and a game of catch the shrimp. You will stay busy from the moment your Chef arrives. The services is often fun and friendly, I can't recall a time they have been less than stellar.

Utterly disappointed that they would not honor the 20% off coupon that I received in the ValuPak. Normally I go to the Annapolis Sakura which is wonderful - great food and service. Compared to Annapolis, this location was the pits! The greeter seemed less than enthused that my party of 5 arrived, and the table chef was just "going through the motions" despite there being a few kids at the table that would have been up for the typical show. Very depressing to watch a choo-choo train by someone who obviously wishes they had the day off. Normally I print out a 10% coupon with the specific store location off their website, but since I received a 20% with no store location named, I figured I'd just use that since we were arriving during the "early bird" period. Despite speaking to the manager, the coupon was denied. They wouldn't even honor a 10% discount. I will not be returning to this location ever again. Just went here out of convenience to BJ's where I was headed next. Take the extra drive and go to Annapolis if you want this type of food!!!

I understand this place is another one of those local staples, but I've been here multiple times and I have never been totaly impressed. For a hibachi grill, it's alright. The food is ok, not the best I've ever had from a place like this, but not the worst. I always get the chicken and scallops. Service is fine, nothing spectacular. I seem to always find myself waiting a while for refills or them forgetting my white rice since everyone else seems to get fried. The atmosphere is very laid-back, which is fine. Overall, when I compare it to other hibachi grills, I wouln't recommend this one. Fuji Steakhouse is much better, or even better than that, Sake Japanese Steakhouse in Laurel.

Amazing food. A little pricey but portions are great and it's a show. Chicken livers are on point. As well is the sushi.

If you come on a Friday or Saturday and don't want to sit for the show then ask for a dining room seat. Same great meal is served to you but you'll receive the attention of all the servers.

I have been a long time regular at Sakura. I've been to three of their locations and I can say there is definately a difference at all the Sakuras. This Sakura is my favorite. I have noticed over the years that the quality of service and food has gone down, but it's still good. They dont give the appetizer first, they usually give rice first, which bothers me. Appetizers should come first!!! They have delicious soup and salad, the dressing on the salad takes a bit of getting use to but it's addicting. The entertainment by the chef is good. A little repetitive for me, but for a first timer, it is a nice change from normal sit down restaurants. At the end of the meal they make you open your mouth like a seal and catch shrimp and everyone claps when you get one. It's pretty funny especially when people get hit in they eye with shellfish.

Great place but come just a little early because this place gets very crowded. Also make sure your entire party is present, they will not seat you until everyone has arrived. As for the food it is very good, very simple but good and a little pricey. The chefs are entertaining and some will start cracking jokes. But if you come here a few times you already know what to expect and the chefs really don't do anything new. Great place if you've never been but going back it's kind of stale but the food is good.

I'd heard about Sakura for years from a friend who's a big fan of eating here, so finally one lazy Sunday my boyfriend and I got ourselves there. We entered and were greeted by a woman who showed us to a table which surrounds the grill. Each of the 5 or 6 large tables all had the flat iron griddles in the center so you sit around them and watch the chef cook your meal and you get a little show out of it. It was cute. We got a couple specialty drinks (like $10 each, eek) and both were very tasty! My boyfriend elected to just go with the sushi and I wanted to try some but ordered my own filet entree. The entree came with choice of appetizer (I got grilled mushrooms), a soup and salad. Nice combo for ~$25. Each little dish was served with a good amount of time in between so they weren't bombarding you with more and more food but you weren't starving either. Our waitress was very very nice and did a good job the whole time. The show put on by the chef was okay, not super exciting but I guess that'll happen over time doing it many times a day. Either way it was a cool experience. I was excited when he put my filet on the grill, sliced it up and cooked it perfectly to medium rare. He put it on my plate with the rest of my rice, veggies, etc. The steak was EXCELLENT. I was really impressed by all the food, both quality and presentation. My boyfriend was kindof disappointed with the sushi as it wasn't fancy "traditional" (we think anyway) where it's just a fresh piece of fish over rice - rather they're all rolls. I bet they have both on the menu somewhere, but yeah, we just ordered three types of rolls - Maryland (crab, avocado & some Old Bay), Salmon, & Spicy Tuna. I wish when it came out she told us which was which, but it wasn't too hard to tell. I think we both liked the tuna the most. The wasabi was great, (superrr spicy so be careful!) and so was the ginger which were on the side. You get a ton of food overall, so come hungry and you'll almost definitely leave with a box of leftovers. I usually am kinda grossed out by Asian food leftovers, but these were great later and the next day. Sakura has great food with fun presentation, I look forward to going again when we're craving Japanese food.

Sake in Laurel has gone out of business and my heart is weeping just writing it. Fuji Japanese steakhouse of Crofton has apparently expanded in to a bigger better location in the same vicinity I haven't gotten to try just yet, but I've heard they've maintained their awesomeness. On this day... Hubz & I were in the neighborhood of this Sakura & figured we'd try it. I'd never visited a Sakura & quickly discovered I hadn't missed much :/ This restaurant is like the Burger King of hibachi grills. A pleasant Hispanic man named Alfredo was the chef for our group & his cooking presentation was the most lacklustre I've ever witnessed. Even though he had to reference his notes on our orders every few seconds, he still managed to mix up people's food requests. My shrimp tasted like they'd been freezer burned badly & then cooked but then again from the looks of the actual restaurant & the dust and grime on everything I wouldn't doubt that perhaps everything there tastes like it came from the back of an old crowded freezer. Service was not terrible or great. The ONLY saving grace for this visit to Sakura was the Japanese Long Island Iced Teas. They tasted like a sip of heaven with a nice punch :) If not for those delectable teas, this review would not have topped a half star so don't bother with them.
